Migizi Miigwanan Secondary School is located beside our elementary school as a part of the community's education campus. After many years of aspiring to offer its residents their own school, the opening of Migizi Miigwanan in 2013 finally saw the dream of offering K-12 education in the community realized.
Migizi Miigwanan offers a full range of secondary level courses, physical education in a large gymnasium, a woodworking shop, a soon-to-be completed auto shop with welding equipment also being installed soon. We are also glad to host a variety of community and social events throughout the year.
in 2012, our First Nation assumed full control over the education of our youth by adding local delivery of secondary school programming to our own students. The move to our own delivery model has been a huge success. In the first two years our enrolment has increased significantly and our secondary school students await the grand opening of their new secondary school facilities with modern shops, classroom pods, a science lab, computer lab and a gymnasium to host all kinds of athletic and social events.
Our school strives to offer a personalized learning experience to each of our students and that includes an emphasis on self-expression, the celebration of First Nation culture, conversation, and cooperation. We continue to strive daily to offer each of the learners within our care a mature, focused, and welcoming environment in which to grow.
Our staff are dedicated to the success of each one of our students and volunteer their time and efforts to run an after school program Monday-Wednesday to 5pm and Thursday to 4pm.
