Economic Development Portfolio
Economic Development Portfolio
The Economic Development Portfolio is responsible for advancing the long-term economic sustainability and self-determination of Long Lake #58 First Nation. This portfolio provides leadership and oversight for community-owned businesses, partnerships, land and resource development initiatives, and strategic economic planning efforts. The goal is to generate stable revenue streams, create meaningful employment opportunities for members, and strengthen financial independence for future generations.
Council representatives assigned to Economic Development work closely with administration, corporate entities, external partners, and funding agencies to ensure that economic initiatives are structured responsibly and transparently. They review proposals, monitor performance, and help guide decision-making to ensure alignment with community priorities and values. Environmental stewardship, protection of traditional lands, and sustainable development principles remain central considerations in all economic initiatives.
This portfolio also supports entrepreneurship and member participation in economic growth opportunities wherever possible. Through careful planning and oversight, Economic Development seeks to balance immediate opportunities with long-term community benefit, ensuring that growth contributes to both prosperity and cultural preservation.
